As a Recruiter at UCP, you will often be filling entry level, “direct care” positions, hiring employees who will work one-on-one with children or adults who experience a disability. Some of our staff work in the homes of the customers we support, helping them with daily routines; other staff might support a customer to find a dream job, or pursue fun activities in the community. Other employees will manage caseloads or teams. You will also assist in recruiting for mid-management and upper-management positions as they open up.

Recruiting at UCP is fast-paced and requires exemplary people-skills because you are interviewing applicants from diverse backgrounds and working side-by-side with managers in all of UCP’s departments to create a smooth onboarding process for new employees and managers.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, and enjoy working with a diverse group of applicants and employees. They will be adept at communicating with department managers and able to solve problems on the fly. This individual will be skilled at making good judgment calls and maintaining applicant/new hire confidentiality.

This position requires close collaboration with the Recruitment & Employment Strategies Manager and the Recruiting & HR Assistant to assure that our hiring processes are applicant-centered, consistent and professional.Recruiter Duties:

Reviewing applications then scheduling and conducting phone/first interviews with applicants.

Communicating with applicants throughout the hiring process and keeping our applicant tracking system up-to-date.

Auditing UCP’s recruiting and personnel databases every six months.

Assisting in crafting compelling job ads, promotional materials, and surveys.

Collecting recruitment data in order to create reports on UCP’s recruitment trends.

Planning, marketing, and implementing effective retention strategies in collaboration with the Recruitment Manager and the Recruiting & HR Assistant.

Attending job fairs and other networking events to promote UCP’s job opportunities.

Special projects as assigned by the Recruitment Manager such as designing and implementing new employee training classes.

Becoming cross-trained on all of the Recruiting & HR Assistant duties listed below so you can assist as needed.

The Recruiter will be performing Recruiting & HR Assistant duties approximately 20 to 40% of their time depending on work load (listed below). The division of tasks changes as needed. Recruiting & HR Assistant Duties:

Posting job ads to UCP’s applicant tracking system and additional job boards.

Responding to applicant inquiries, setting up interviews, and providing status updates by phone and email.

Completing email and phone reference checks for potential new hires.

Coordinating our new hire process, which includes criminal history checks, pre-hire physical fitness screenings, new hire paperwork, and new hire meetings.

Completing all new hire documentation in ADP, our applicant tracking system, and our Excel databases.

Processing documentation for transfers and resignations for current employees.

Updating the performance evaluation database and generating reports.

As needed, covering the front desk including document/package pick-ups/drop-offs, answering the phone, and handling petty cash.Hours & Location:

This is a 40-hour per week job. Typical schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. During the weekdays, some evening hours may be required to lead or attend retention activities. When you are scheduled to work in the evening, your daytime schedule will be modified to maintain a 40-hour work week.

This position requires that you work in our office located near NE 102nd Avenue & Burnside during your training period. After passing the 180-day introductory evaluation, a hybrid work schedule may be considered. Benefits:

$25.00 per hour. Annual wage increase based on satisfactory performance.

Eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 hours per week.

Bachelor's degree, and a minimum of 2 years of recruiting experience (this can include assisting/coordinating recruitment activities). Equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for education requirements.

Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service (in-person and via phone and email) with applicants and employees from diverse backgrounds.

Proficient in the use of Outlook and the Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel.

Ability to use a variety of programs to track data, run reports, and create forms.

Solid knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity laws and requirements.

Able to pass a thorough reference and criminal history check (must meet Oregon Department of Human Services Background Check Unit requirements for Qualified Designee status).
