Patient Registration Clerk, FT Days M-F Share This Opportunity:Job Title: Patient Registration Clerk, FT Days M-F Location: Alexandria Bay, New York Posted Date: 09/29/2022 POSITION TITLE: Patient Access Clerk DEPARTMENT: Patient Access REPORTS TO: Patient Access Manager EXEMPT OR NON-EXEMPT: Non-exempt Job purpose Responsibilities of this job include outpatient registration for the River Family Health Clinic. Responsible for answering multi line phone system, Accepting Co payments into petty cash, Balancing cash drawer, filing, scanning, mail distribution. Responsible for the organization of the office, patient records, files in all hospital systems. Duties and responsibilities: Competency: Responsible for processing registrations. Expectations: Is knowledgeable of patient registration protocols, policies, and procedures.

Gathers informational data related to patient demographics.

Utilizes PC to process data.

Gathers billing information from the patient.

Must have knowledge of insurance carrier requirements.

Directs patient to the appropriate department for assistance when needed.

Distributes and ensures that patients understand the Patients’ Bill of Rights.

Reviews Advance Directives, Health Care Proxy, Latex questionnaire and HIPAA requirements with all patients and enters appropriate information into computer system

Ensures that patients presenting to registration sign consents and all necessary forms.

Monitors accuracy and completeness of patient guarantor data.

Assists in training new/existing staff in RH computer systems and admission procedures.

Competency: Must have working knowledge of patient care areas and support departments.

Expectations:

Is familiar with all inpatient units and location of units.

Is familiar with outpatient support areas and where they are located.

Directs patients and families to proper areas after registering them.

Competency: Responsible for running switchboard system.

Expectations:

Answers phone promptly and professionally.

Transfers calls to appropriate departments.

Pages individuals in calm professional manner.

Competency: Accurately performs and completes all tasks necessary to the day-to-day operations of the Admissions Office.

Expectations:

Responsible for overseeing petty cash system.

Ability to supervise and coordinate wide range of diverse activities.

Ability to work with others pleasantly, cooperatively, and tactfully.

Sorts all mail.

Performs all other duties necessary and essential to proper functioning of the Admissions Office.

Assists co-workers in the day-to-day operations of the department

Able to perform in a calm and professional manner during crises/emergency situations.

Follows institutional/departmental policies and procedures.

Accepts assignments from supervisor as needed to meet the needs of the department .

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

PC and keyboard skills required

Accurate clerical skills

Good organizational skills

Excellent communication/interpersonal skills necessary
