HR Specialist Job Description
Job Summary:
The HR Specialist will maintain employee records, help with the recruitment of new employees, and provide onboarding to all new employees. Will be an excellent communicator, with in-depth knowledge of the recruiting process and labor regulations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
● Answers and directs departmental phone calls.
● Proofread, type and interpret (English/Spanish) documents and correspondence produced by the department.
● Distribute, complete, and process paperwork for new hires
● Conduct new hire orientation and benefits orientation
● Assist in the development of policies & procedures
● Handles routine labor relations and human resource inquiries related to policies and procedures, refers complex matters to appropriate management staff.
● Gathers information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other concerns; informs appropriate HR staff when additional investigation is required.
● Assists with preparation of plans, policies, documents, employee handbooks and reports.
● Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
● Implement training and development plans
● Inform employees about additional benefits they’re eligible for (e.g., extra vacation days)
● Assist with hiring needs and ensure recruitment process runs smoothly
● Develop and implement HR policies throughout the organization
● Process employees’ queries and respond in a timely manner
● Stay up-to-date and comply with changes in labor legislation
● Ensure Safety guidelines are up to date and employees follow all protocols for a safe working environment
● Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
● Excellent attention to detail while multitasking.
● Ability to handle sensitive situations and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
● PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
● Strong organizational skills.
● Good understanding of the full recruitment process.
Education and Experience:
● Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or a relevant field.
● A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a similar role.
Physical Requirements:
● Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
● Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
