Position Description: Position: Senior Software Engineer - Kubernetes Position Duties: In this position, the candidate will play a key role in executing the transformation of software architecture and delivery for Ford's connected vehicle portfolio. Vehicle connectivity allows our customers to directly engage with our diverse and charismatic vehicle lines through features such as remote start, vehicle health checks, etc.The focus of this role will be to utilize technologies including but not limited containers, service meshes and serverless functions to deliver always on experiences for our customers. The candidate should have experience helping large enterprise organizations deliver world class customer experiences safely and at high velocity. The candidate should have an obsessive focus on automation and high resiliency and is expected to do the following. Deliver modern always on services by implementing Cloud best practices and technologies such as Containers (Kubernetes with GKE and Anthos running on Google Cloud Platform) Service mesh (Anthos/Istio) Serverless functions (Cloud Run, Google Functions) Implement practices centered on the bullets above along with infrastructure as code, continuous integration and automated deployment Ensure world class quality through test driven development and automated performance testing. By executing the tasks above the candidate will enable Ford to provide world class, always on experiences to our customers and put a smile on their face. Skills Required: Strong understanding of algorithms and design patterns Experience architecting and automating cloud native experiences Experience with Kubernetes utilizing GKE and Anthos Experience implementing and supporting Anthos/Istio service mesh Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), using CloudFormation, Terraform, or other tools Serverless functions such as Google Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, etc Experience architecting and managing cloud native CI/CD workflows and tools, such as Tekton, Jenkins, for code merging and promotion Experience with more advanced DevOps practices, such as Observability, Traceability, Fault Injection, DevSecOps, Deployment Strategies including Blue/Green, Rolling and Canary Experience Required: 3+ years of hands-on experience developing with Kubernetes on Google Cloud Platform, along with creating and maintaining Kubernetes clusters 2+ years of hands-on experience programming in languages such as Java Education Required: Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent Thanks
