PRIMARY FUNCTION

Provide air traffic control services for Army Air National Guard aviation operations providing safety of flight and traffic separations and sequencing in class ā€œDā€ airspace, VFR only procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides air traffic services within established priorities to aircraft arriving, departing or practicing approaches to.
  • Maintains positive control of aircraft within designated ATC assigned airspace and communicates with adjacent facilities to transmit and receive instructions and information relative to flight.
  • Applies appropriate separation minima IAW applicable FAA or Military directives.
  • Alerts airport emergency crews and other designated personnel while handling unexpected events, emergencies and unscheduled traffic.
  • Provides current and forecasted weather phenomena to aircraft.
  • Formulates and issues all ground movement instructions to aircraft on the ground, vehicles and personnel operating within the controlled movement areas.
  • Maintains and disseminates records of daily operations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. The position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Basic to intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs.
  • Ability to enter data accurately into databases both manual and electronic.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Must be trustworthy
  • Effective oral and technical written communication skills to effectively and clearly communicate complex information in high pressure, emergency situations to others.
  • Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, etc.
  • Ability to follow a process.
  • Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data and consider decision impact across multiple areas with limited information in high stress situations and environments

  • Strong decision analysis and problem solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management and regulatory agencies
  • Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to company goals.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations, detect unobvious facts and issues, and exercise resourcefulness in resolving problems.
  • Ability to multi-task.

Job Requirements

  • Must have previously been awarded a FAA Control Tower Operator (CTO) Certificate.
  • Must have 3 consecutive years of experience performing CTO certified ATC tower duties
  • FAA form 7220-1 or equivalent
  • Required to maintain a current FAA Class II Medical clearance at all times
  • Maintain training, weather certification and FAA certification for control tower operators.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid driver license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass drug and background screenings
  • Must be able to obtain a government security clearance
