Description SHIFT: Day JobSCHEDULE: Full-timeThis is an exceptional opportunity to do innovative work that means more to you and those we serve at one of America's leading health benefits companies and a Fortune Top 50 Company.The Group Underwriting Consultant is responsible for determining acceptability of insurance risks and appropriate premium rates for large and complex group cases. Position is a technical underwriting expert. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:Calculate rates for large and complex group Medicare Advantage business based on a thorough analysis of experience, location, demographics, etc. Interpret and analyze data received for prospective groups for reasonableness and accuracy. Includes responding to RFP questions as appropriate. Prepares rate projections, benefit change increments and decrements, and financial review documents.Works within existing financial review parametersCoordinates with other departments to ensure accuracy and consistency of overall account reporting.Performs post-sale reviews.Effectively explains financial modeling to internal and external audiences.May participate in major multi-functional teams as underwriting representative.Assists in the technical development of underwriting associates, which may include monitoring reports and work flow to provide recommendations on productivity and efficiency improvements.Qualifications BA/BS in a related field 5 years of group underwriting medical experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.Strong Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, graphing, and using functions. MS Access and PowerPoint skills a plus. Strong communication skills, able to explain financial modeling. Retiree group underwriting experience is preferred.
