Summary:The Battery Reliability team is looking for a highly motivated individual with a background in the creation and execution of comprehensive test suites and the identification of potential failure modes. You will be working cross-functionally with the Battery team and the Engineering team to assist in the management of reliability programs, the development of new test procedures to quantify the reliability of a design, and the failure analysis resulting from these tests.

Responsibilities:
  • Project management duties: preparing concise and detailed test plans and test reports, tracking issues/progress, driving tests, ensuring on-time schedules, etc.
  • Development of new reliability tests procedures and specifications
  • Statistical data analysis and interpret failure data to provide risk assessments of a design
  • Researching a technology to determine possible failure modes
  • Prioritizing and completing tasks to meet deadlines
  • Providing design input to improve product reliability when necessary
  • Interacting cross-functionally with a wide variety of individuals and teams to communicate results, including an in-region international counterpart
  • Traveling approximately once every six months to support and visit suppliers

Requirements:
  • Experience performing reliability testing including Mechanical Stress Tests, Shock/ Drop/Vibration Testing, Environmental Testing Failure Analysis analytical techniques (Optical Microscopy, X-Ray, SEM/EDS, FTIR, XPS etc)
  • Ability to use fundamental failure analysis methodology to derive a root cause of failure
  • Knowledge of industry test standards (JEDEC, ASTM, IEEE)
  • Solid understanding of mechanical assemblies Application of DOE (design of Experiments)
  • Application of FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
  • Statistical data background
  • Exceptional problem solving abilities and written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, flexibility and adaptability to accept new tasks
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to complete tests and resolve problems in an unattended manner
  • Engineering degree and 3+ years of experience in a related field or industry

Preferred skillsets:
  • Consumer electronics or batteries experience
  • BS or MS in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field
  • Proficiency in JMP or MATLAB

Location: Cupertino, CA (Onsite 3 days / week)

Duration: 12+ months
