Job Description SummaryThe Information Technology Division at Bentley University is committed to leveraging technology in innovative ways to support teaching, learning, research, student services and administration. Our SaaS /cloud first foundational strategy enables us to leverage modern systems and collaboration services and easily integrate emerging technology into our user experiences. The Principal Enterprise Solutions Architect plays a key role in delivering on this strategy and is responsible for aligning Bentley's technical structure with the business strategy, organization and processes while balancing these demands with streamlining and evolving Bentley's enterprise architecture. The role creates and implements enterprise architecture models, provides technical and project leadership in deployment and appropriate use of existing and emerging technologies and ensures effective integration of IT systems and infrastructure.

Essential Duties
  • Responsible for analyzing and translating business, information and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint that outlines solutions to achieve business objectives and meets project requirements.
  • Ensures technology stack is optimized for efficiency and existing platforms are leveraged to their full potential while balancing the need for enabling business agility and delivering an excellent user experience.
  • Ensures commercial product selections and platforms align to engineering strategy and architecture.
  • Serve as technical leader and major contributor on enterprise and high-risk projects from project definition or RFP through post implementation, developing business process flows, design and architecture documents and participating in proof of concepts, testing, training and rollout of new technology.
  • Partner with senior academic, administrative and technical leadership to ensure Digital Transformation roadmap aligns with "Bentley 2030" strategic priorities and objectives.
  • Collaborate across Bentley University with business representatives, stakeholders, project teams, and subject matter experts as well as with IT's strategic vendor partnerships.
  • In collaboration with other technology leaders and engineers, review technology proposals and initiatives, analyze technology and market trends, determine opportunities for technology improvements and develop enterprise data mining strategies while ensuring data security and integrity.
  • Lead University Technical Architecture Group to develop and ensure alignment to best practices. Identify opportunities for collaboration, technical efficiencies and increased use of new technologies.
  • Develop technical proficiency in new applications, platforms, and emerging technologies where appropriate in order to assist in decision making and configuration.
  • Work across the IT organization to grow technical proficiency.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. MBA, MIS or related master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience working in the enterprise computing space, with strong working knowledge of all areas of IT architecture (i.e., cloud computing, identity management, application, data, security, and infrastructure)
  • Proven experience as a subject matter expert across multiple technologies, architectures and business applications.
  • Ability to lead evaluation of emerging technology and/or evaluation of technology for Bentley.
  • Must have strong collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to work well in with technology and business teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and technology implementations including the ability to abstract key trends and issues from complex, detailed information and translate into business terms that senior, non-IT leaders can understand.
  • Ability to complete architectural diagrams and documentation, and to develop multi-year technology roadmaps.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communications skills, and ability to work successfully across organizations and teams .
  • Experience working with Agile project methodologies and/or with Dev/Ops teams is a plus.
  • Expertise in the enterprise Microsoft technology stack (O365, Microsoft Azure) and/or Workday is preferable.
