Description:Providence is calling a Senior Manager Epidemiology And Infection Prevention (Full-time/Day Shift) to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.We are seeking a Senior Manager Epidemiology And Infection Prevention who will coordinate the development/implementation and maintenance of a program of active infection control surveillance that includes specific measure for the prevention, early detection, control, education, and investigation of infections and communicable diseases identify and reduce the risks of acquiring and transmitting infections among patients, physicians, staff, volunteers, visitors, and othersIn this position you will:

Be responsible for the implementation and oversight of infection control measures and ongoing education to all medical center physicians, staff, volunteers and visitors

Be responsible for regulatory compliance oversight with respect to infection control e.g. CMS Conditions of Participation, The Joint Commission Standards, Title XXII

Program management Oversight in development and execution of the Infection Prevention Program, annual Infection Prevention Risk Assessment, and associated policies and procedures, and education and training, ensuring alignment of the program with the hospital and SJHS strategic goals and strategic priorities and implements action plans and programs to achieve annual performance targets to decrease hospital acquired infections

Be responsible for assuring the use of current available technologies in establishing Infection Prevention Department processes to ensure an efficient and reliable infection prevention program

Maintain current department, unit, and hospital policies, procedures and objectives, improving organization performance program and Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops. (1,5) patient/customer safety standards

Revise policies based on the most current, evidence based data in order to improve patient care

Oversee and is responsible for the work of Infection Preventionists

Use valid criteria identifies hospital acquired infections

Identify, implement and sustain improvement for IP strategies hospital wide related to, but not limited to the following: hand hygiene, cleaning, disinfection and sterilization, construction and renovation in patient care area, environmental hazards, infection risks associated with therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and devices, use of patient care products and medical equipment, immunization programs, recalls of potentially contaminated equipment and supplies, initiations and discontinuation of isolation/barrier precautions, decrease in hospital acquired infections

Advise the Infection Control Committee (ICC) concerning the implementation of the infection control program, revision of policies and procedures, and data gathering methods. Informs the ICC surveillance findings and control activities

Act as a consultant to other departments in the development or revision of infection-related policies and the investigation of related problems

Investigate clusters of infections or changes in patterns or infection

Track this information and develops action plans accordingly

Identify and evaluate the relationship of environmental factors to infection

Develop and update the infection control manual and recommends changes to the ICC

In collaboration with Caregiver Health Department, reviews exposures to significant organisms among employees and consults in cases of sharps injury

Foster a spirit of inquiry and participates in research endeavors as appropriate

Link with external organizations such as skilled nursing facilities and the Public Health Department to reduce the risk of infection in the community

Attend appropriate committee meetings as appointed or required

Generate an annual scope of service by reviewing previous data, including results of control activities and problems during the previous year

Be responsible for reporting communicable diseases to the central Morbidity Unit per California regulation, Title 17, Section 2500

Qualifications:Required qualifications for this position includes:

Coursework/Training: Infection control training as endorsed by AMC/CDC

Three (3) or more years of experience as an infection control practitioner with knowledge of sterilization, sanitation, disinfection practices, and infection control standards

Management experience

Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patient care staff, and all levels of hospital personnel

Computer literacy in word processing and statistical packages

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

Bachelor's Degree

Certified by the Board for Infection Control (CBIC)

California Licensed Registered Nurse or Medical Technologist
