1. Maintains good personal hygiene.

2. Prepares and handles food in a safe and sanitary manner.

3. Plates and/or serves food in a safe and sanitary manner.

4. Sets tables.

5. Prepares residents trays.

6. Follows and meets job breakdown schedules.

7. Serves food at appropriate temperatures.

8. Completes all cleaning assignments.

9. Properly stores food in proper location and manner.

10. Follows menus, recipes, and spreadsheets accurately (if applicable).

11. Reports any safety or sanitation hazards to supervisor or manager.

12. Reports any problems with residents and/or any changes in resident eating habits.

13. Scrapes, washes, rinses and sanitizes pots, pans, and utensils properly.

14. Returns all pots and pans to appropriate storage areas.

15. Receives and puts away stock using the FIFO (First In First Out).

16. Attends in-services and training meetings, staff meetings or any other meeting as required.

17. Empties trashcans, cleans and sanitizes trashcans and disposes of trash correctly. Replaces trash liner.

18. Sweeps and mops floor thoroughly.

19. Performs heavy duty cleaning as assigned.

20. Accepts payment for staff meals.

21. Submits all invoices and paperwork received from vendors to Dietary Manager in a timely manner.

22. Performs all other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

1. High School Diploma or GED required.

2. Three years experience in cooking within a long term care facility preferred.

3. Able to read, write, and do simple arithmetic.

4. Knowledge of English Language.

7. Ability to withstand heat and temperature change.

8. Awareness of kitchen hazards to prevent accidents.

9. Ability to meet time deadlines.

10. Ability to work in stressful environment.

RELATIONSHIPS REQUIREMENTS

1. Will frequently deal with people of varying ages and must be able to cope with requests by residents or family members in an appropriate manner.

2. May have to deal with nutritionist, medical staff and registered dietitians on a regular basis.

3. May have to supervise kitchen or dining room staff.
