Rocky Mountain Youth Corps is now hiring 3 new members for its 2020 Conservation season. RMYC is a youth development organization that inspires young adults to make a difference in themselves and their community through training and team service in an outdoor environment.
Join a 5-person AmeriCorps National Service crew working on conservation projects in the Albuquerque area. Two shifts are currently available: full-time day work positions, and backcountry camping positions. You must be 18-25 years old to apply. All participants and staff will be required to practice social distancing and hygiene measures in compliance with local mandate, including wearing a mask. All necessary PPE will be provided to you at no cost.
Position Description:
Crews will complete projects such as trail construction / maintenance, habitat restoration, erosion control and other conservation projects. Crews may also be involved with community outreach and service. Service will incorporate collaboration with local and national agencies including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service, the National Park Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and local Tribal Agencies. All Corps members will receive both personal and professional development training with topics such as financial management, public speaking skills, and certifications in First Aid/CPR and Mental Health First Aid. Additional program benefits include conservation career mentoring from natural resource professionals, a job shadow day, and a scholarship upon successful completion of the program.
Location:
This position is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our office is located in the South Valley at Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge, at 7851 2nd Street SW, 87105. Participants must have reliable transportation to and from Valle de Oro for work schedule.

Crew Type: Camping Schedule
Some weeks on Day Schedule: 7:00-4:30 Monday-Friday with every other Monday off
Some weeks on Camping Schedule: Tuesday - Tuesday, 8 days/ 7 nights are on & 6 days/7 nights off
RMYC provides an advance calendar indicating which weeks are on which schedule to help facilitate work/life balance and planning for personal obligations. Participants are expected to attend one community service day on a weekend.
Benefits:
This is an AmeriCorps position and young adults will receive a living stipend. Upon completion of the program, corps members will receive an education award. This award can be used to pay tuition at most colleges, universities, or trade schools, or to pay off student loans already acquired.

Camping Crew: $760 biweekly / 900 hours / $3,047.50
Day Crew: $760 biweekly / 900 hours / $3,047.50
Qualifications:
18 - 25 years old on start date
Valid, insurable driver's license
Strong work ethic
Able to commit to entire term of service
Able to work in supervised environment
