Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Work requires bending, stooping, and working in tiring anduncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds. Uses weight handling equipment or receivesassistance from other workers for items heavier than 40 pounds. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and footcontrols when operating materials handling equipment. Working ConditionsWork is performed within a warehouse environment. Works outside and inside in areas that are hot, damp, cold, drafty, andpoorly lighted. Subject to cuts, scrapes, bruises, muscle strain, noise, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock. Subject toexposure from radiation, toxins, chemical fumes, noxious fumes, and skin irritants. Must wear and use safety clothing andequipment for protection from hazards. Wears protective clothing such as steel toed shoes, respirators, earplugs, safetyglasses and earplugs, rubber gloves, masks, and aprons. Mechanized roller conveyors are often present as a normal part ofmaterial routing and distribution. Must possess or be able to obtain all appropriate state and governmental licenses. Workingconditions are a normal part of the job and are considered in the evaluation of the position.
