Critical Care ICU - (Full-time, Day Shift) -Our mission is to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ. Our core values are compassion, integrity, excellence, teamwork and wholeness.The Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional care giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a patient or a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the therapeutic environment, treatment, and modalities and interdisciplinary collaboration within the scope of practice set forth for Registered Nurses. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment in applying the nursing process to the provision of age specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care in all areas of Department. Meets qualifications, licensure and certifications and competencies as defined in the department specific plan for providing care. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in department specialty. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care and professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Takes call nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Performs other duties as needed.Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Associate's Degree in Nursing required. Minimum one year of acute care nursing experience required. Minimum one year of acute care nursing experience in area of specialty preferred. Recent appropriate nursing practice (Within the past two years) or completion of approved refresher course. Active California Registered Nursing (RN) License required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life (ACLS) Support certificates from the American Heart Association required.Possess physical and emotional stamina. Customer service abilities including effective listening skills. Demonstrate an understanding of the department specialty process. Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret data and document appropriately. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position (i.e. Microsoft Windows, Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, internet, timekeeping, e-mail); troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment (i.e. Intravenous (IV) pumps, Electrocardiogram (ECG) monitors, vital sign machines, bed and gurney operation, and the like). Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place and patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.Additional Information
