ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will participate in total patient care, assist with preparing patients for examinations, procedures and minor surgeries, administering and recording medications, draw and process labs, acting as a patient liaison, and stock and maintaining exam and procedure rooms. Ability to utilize the University's EMR (EPIC/CareConnect) to process the patient through the visit including but not limited to: arrive/room patients, accurately take and record vital signs, record necessary data elements as outlined in scope of work, obtain lab results and patient reports, facilitate prescriptions as outlined in scope of work, ensure correct electronic charting procedures, facilitate consent process using electronic program (iMed), facilitate follow-up appointment scheduling, provide patient with completed After Visit Summary (AVS) and respond to In-Basket notifications and complete or forward to appropriate individual(s) in a timely manner. Act as a staff person in the office, assisting with patient care and maintaining high standards of care in the community offices. Be able to work with minimal supervision.QualificationsCPR certification the American Heart Association or Red Cross is required.Medical Assistant Certification or Diploma is required.Ability to skillfully administer oral, IM and subcutaneous medications.Ability to perform venipuncture with skill, adhering to all OSHA PPE safety requirements.Ability to obtain accurate vital signs and drug refills.Skill to accurately perform a 12-lead EKG.Ability to order medical and clinical supplies and maintain adequate inventory.Ability to schedule patient appointments and encounter patients using the MCCS Appointment Scheduling/Encounter Registration Programs.Ability to be flexible in working both back and front office to facilitate smooth workflow.Knowledge and ability to set up and assist physician with any procedures such as, but not limited to audiometry, spirometry, O2 saturation levels, skin tag and mole removals, ear lavage.Ability to perform accurate quality control and patient sample testing for waived tests.Knowledge of all safety requirements when handling Bio hazardous specimens or contaminated instruments.Knowledge of MSDS and emergency treatments.Minimum of two years' experience as medical assistant a physician office, medical facility or in an Internal Medicine/Family Practice.UCLA is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
