Starting salary up to $51.43/hour ($107,340/year), a cash allowance of $600/month, and a competitive total compensation package!

Permit Sonoma is currently recruiting to fill positions at either the I and/or II levels. If you are interested in applying at either level, you must submit a separate application to the recruitment being conducted for that level.

Have you:Completed coursework in hazardous materials and fire prevention and investigation?

The knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to investigate and conduct environmental compliance inspections for the purpose of fire prevention or suppression?If you answered, "Yes" to these questions, apply to become our next Fire Inspector. Applicants with valid California Underground Storage Tank Inspector, CA POST PC 832, and Hazardous Materials Specialist certifications are highly desired.

As a Permit Sonoma Fire Inspector, you will learn how to inspect and investigate a variety of public and private properties to ensure:Environmental compliance with local ordinance and California Fire Code

Proper fire prevention and control measures are in place

Underground tanks, hazardous waste, and other materials are stored and handled correctly

Emergency communications systems and equipment are operationally compliant.Additionally, you will be responsible for issuing corrective notices and educating and advising business owners and operators on how to correct issues. The most successful and qualified candidates are those who demonstrate a/an:Aptitude for technology and an eagerness to implement new technologies

Desire to develop considerable expertise in laws and regulations

Can-do attitude, with the flexibly to manage rapidly changing priorities

Commitment to being a self-starter with a team-oriented approach to workIn our 24/7 environment, and as members of Sonoma County's Hazardous Materials Response Team, Fire Inspector's must have the flexibility to be on-call and work any assigned shift as required.
