Visit www.alstom.com at http://www.alstom.com/ to learn more about our business.Job TitleElectrical EngineerObjectiveThis position will be part of Alstom's Services group and includes the design, re-engineering, reverse engineering, make Vs buy, obsolescence, and re-build in kind of components or parts for the railroad Industry in OEM or non OEM vehicles. Create DTR Part Numbers, maintain CLAMPS and keep in good record the HTS codes to import goods to comply with the US customs and border patrol. Responsibilities and Accountabilities The goal is to apply all the electrical and electronic knowledge to reverse engineer, make Vs. buy, identify obsolesce, overhaul, repair, design, upgrade and execute engineering changes of parts; providing drawings, bill of materials and manufacture hours to replace parts requested by the customers. Review vendor offers for compatibility with the customer parts specifications. Work on bids proposals to be repair, redesign, and overhaul equipment, printed circuit boards and in general electrical and electronics parts used in the rail industry. Ensure all the parts proposal will be meeting the customer specifications in form, fit and function. Provide electrical drawings, bill of material, detailed work scope, assembly and testing instructions for parts, equipment and printed circuit boards. The parts needs to comply with all the customer specifications, industrial standards, risk evaluation, electrical norms and standards. Be thoroughly familiar with the project specification and its requirements relating to the electrical design tasks associated with the parts requested. Have experience in rail industry standards and design or with similar industry products such as Transportation vehicles, and or high-low voltage equipment, and discrete electronic components. Have experience in preparing procurement specifications and technical requirements from customer specification to drive the design of the parts requested Prepare electrical and interface schematics, drawings, and documentation of assigned systems and meet deliverable schedule. Coordinate and lead efforts with subsystem vendors to confirm compliancy with customer requirements. The Engineer will interface with the customer and vendors to insure compliancy and valid design. Desire to be familiar with the rail and electrical-electronic norms and standards such as FRA, AAR, IEEE, ANSI etc. Provide instructions to drafters and designers for the development and preparation of schematics, layouts, assembly, and detail drawings. Provide engineering support during production of the part specify and select electrical or electronic components to be applied in the parts. Provide customer technical support as needed. Work on electronic Bench Test Equipment (BTE) design and integration. Operate in the ALSTOM CCB participate in Design Reviews and Gate Reviews for electrical parts. Track parts obsolescence using the TOMSYS systems.Educational RequirementsBachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering requiredExperience (Essential Functions)Have a minimum of 5 years in engineering experience or 2 years engineering experience in the rail industryWorking Conditions (Industrial/Environmental)Office and manufacturing environmentsAlstom offers competitive salaries, an excellent benefits package, and flexible work options, as well as a uniquely diverse and unified team of professionals.
