If you’re driven to discover, create, and inspire something that lasts a lifetime and beyond, you’re ready for JPL.Located in Pasadena, California, JPL has a campus-like environment situated on 177 acres in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and offers a work environment unlike any other: we inspire passion, foster innovation, build collaboration, and reward excellence.ResponsibilitiesJPL'S Rules Reviews Reporting and Business Administration Office is seeking a Systems Administrator to be the lead and primary interface between JPL Cape Operations (@KSC) and the Information and Technology Solutions Directorate (ITSD) for the Project Support Office (PSO) personnel on all IT/IT Security related issues and concerns including but not limited to desktop, laptop, MS Surface, iPad systems, printers, scanners, fax machines, IT hardware, MiFi’s, hotspots,software functionality, home-related network access problems, PSO dedicated servers, teleconferencing, maintenance, migration and troubleshooting for both PC and Mac systems. In this role you will be responsible for:

Supporting formal laboratory, project and headquarter reviews for which PSO is responsible (e.g. WebEx, videoconference, teleconference, JPL Guest Access for external reviewers, etc.), including all NASA Centers’ preconference connectivity testing and other participating location(s).

Being the technical lead and member of the conference room committee for PSO interests in conference room upgrades working with the JPL conference room governance board.

Being the technical lead, evaluator, presenter and a member of the technical desktop group (DTAG) for the PSO at all ITSD user support/customer feedback sessions, beta-tester and an early adapter participant (ex. new version of VPN, M365).

ImplementingIT services including troubleshooting, based upon laboratory policies, procedures and government regulations for all external PSO users and affiliates.

Implementing, modifying, trouble-shooting and ensuring that maintenance and PSO backup protocols are working, data recovery due to program crashes/freezes, software upgrades, hardware replenishments, and resolution of network problems on all PSO systems.

Assisting users via phone or with remote login.

Security Problem Log (SPLs) notices support for computer equipment.

Overseeing and implementing computer hardware(e.g. desktop, printers, etc.), relocation, set-up and/or retrieval of hardware, including the backup of critical data from retiring/terminating employees prior to termination.

Removal of JPL data from old media such as CDs, tapes, and external hard drives to USB or encrypted drives.

Providing technical supportto and assisting with administration, operation (software debugging) and trouble-shooting of shared drives.

Evaluating and recommending potential COTS software for use within PSO as well as provide replenishment consultation, recommendations and identification of solutions for files using outdated versions of software.

Developing support documentation and specifications for requesting the acquisition of “non-supported” hardware/software.

Interacting with ITSD and/in support of all PSO hosted tools such as: E Class, WISPR, LRS, and REC/DEL to name a few.

Managingserver(s) configurations including OS and application builds.

Maintenance, updates, security and identifying future technical operating plans for the PSO-dedicated server(s) for the Launch Approval Engineering Office (LAEO) (LAE1) and Information Resource Center (IRC) (LAEG2), including but not limited to:

LAEO file share sites, I/ECO Share Drive, and LAE internal websites, such as IRCOS and ANSE Data Center.

The Windows file server maintenance, IIS web server search engine maintenance, (installing updates, patches, upgrades, etc.), weekly web-page re-indexing, and user account management.

LAEO backup protocols, restores, modifications, trouble-shooting, and data recovery.

Providing oversight on server administration issues for two other JPL employees, as well as the I/ECO organization.

Providing assistance and troubleshooting for 120+ remote users.

The IRC stand alone scanner workstations, scanner functionality, communication with the host workstation and compliancy with JPL security requirements.

Maintenance of the virtual account for the scanner stations shared among the IRC team members.

Developing and implementing all system security plans including but not limited to, security reviews and quarterly security reports.

Troubleshooting the NASA email system to resolve encrypted bounced email issues from NASA to JPL and vice versa.In general, willtrain and troubleshoot on encrypted emails and encrypted computer (File Vault, BitLocker).

Help Desk coordination and facilitating/expediting technical interface and escalation to appropriate areas of expertise for troubleshooting requests.

Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 6 years of related experience; or a Master's degree in similar disciplines with a minimum of 4 years of related experience; or PhD in similar disciplines with a minimum of 2 years related experience.

Server administration experience.

Must be able to write script searches for files on both PC and Mac.

Experience in troubleshooting, programming and handling of security issues.

Experience with home internet connectivity issues.

A Secret Clearance.

Excellent customer service and follow-up skills.

Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and track tasks.

Knowledge of JPL operating policies and procedures and government regulations.

Desired Qualifications:

Good written and oral communication skills.

Ability to multi-task.

Strong presentation skills.
