JOB SUMMARYThe Research Nurse 1 learns to assist various Principal Investigators (PIs), through delegated authority, with conducting clinical trials per federal, state and institutional guidelines, while learning the responsibilities during all phases of trials including pre-study implementation through study closure are included in the scope of this position.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLECoordinates the implementation of various protocols for assigned research projects with appropriate departments throughout the organization while under the mentorship of a research leader by interacting with PIs and clinical managers/supervisors, providing in-service education for healthcare professionals and working with Pharmacy to ensure a smooth project flow.Learns to review new protocols and other materials provided by study sponsors, and gives input to the PIs and managers, as applicable, regarding nursing and research issues in order to determine financial and clinical feasibility.Learns to screen patients for eligibility in assigned clinical trials in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.Assists in coordinating research subject's consent and entry into appropriate research studies ensuring that all inclusion and exclusion criteria are met.Helps ensure that all study related activities are complete including returning supplies, returning unused stock of study drug/devices, and confirming that all queries are complete.Assists with preparing Institutional Review Board final reports.Maintains current knowledge of departmental functions through reading literature, attending workshops, seminars and conferences, and by participating in professional organizations.Learns to utilize Study Assistant Clinical Trials Management System per departmental requirements.Assists in conducting audits of research studies to check the accuracy, integrity and consistency of the research studies.KEY SUCCESS FACTORSStrong written and oral communication skills.Strong computer Skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint.Ability to manage time sensitive projects in order to meet deadlines.Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

EDUCATION - Associate's

EXPERIENCE - Research experience highly preferred but nursing experience in eitherER, ICU, oncology or cardiology will be considered
