Banyan Botanicals is seeking a Domestic Sourcing Manager to source our raw materials in the domestic market. Banyan Botanicals is committed to seeking and sourcing ingredients that are rich in vitality, organic, and environmentally and socially sustainable. The Domestic Sourcing Manager position is a dynamic role which involves raw material sourcing through forging and maintaining authentic and long-lasting vendor relationships. The Sourcing Manager must be someone who is communicative, strategic, technical, and who’s values are centered around environmental stewardship, the social welfare of its vendors, and procuring the highest quality ingredients. Responsibilities

- Maintain vendor relationships. At Banyan Botanicals, we deeply value our vendors and the work they do. Out of respect to their commitment to growing and sourcing ingredients rooted in integrity and sustainability, we want to be active participants in maintaining mutually beneficial relationships that lead to trust, longevity, financial stability, and premium quality.

- Forge and nurture new vendor relationships. We want to engage in inspired relationships where we can support and guide new vendors in adopting Banyan’s standards and values.

- Work to diversify Banyan’s supply chain. The importance of diversity within Banyan’s supply chain has never been more apparent. With both the geo-political and socio-political climates in constant change, Banyan must to be adaptive, strategic, and thoughtful with our decision making as it pertains to our vendor relationships, types of ingredients, and source locations.

- Oversee the implementation of Banyan’s standards within our Domestic supplier network. This includes Fair for Life, Fair Wild, Fair Trade, Organic, and Regenerative.

- Supply Chain Forecasting - anticipate and resolve supply chain shortages and surpluses.

- Work alongside Banyan’s Environmental Responsibility Manager to implement and oversee sustainability initiatives within the supply chain (e.g. social and community welfare, water conservation, carbon insetting, etc.)

- Work with the Purchasing Manager in developing good purchasing methods.

- Work with the Director of Herbal Affairs in developing and maintaining vendor relationships, improve raw ingredient quality, and communicating information around our herb sources and processing techniques.

- Collaborate with the Marketing team in bringing the stories of the plants, people, and places we source from, to Banyan customers.

- Strengthen our vendor qualification program. This will be done in collaboration with the New Product Development, Operations, and Quality Control teams.

- Support in auditing both domestic (primary) and international vendors to ensure they are upholding company specifications. This includes creating and maintaining documents for our auditing program

- Participate in the development of specifications for products, substitute materials and analogue ingredient

Knowledge and Experience

- Project Management and Organic ingredient sourcing experience

- Holds skills to engage and nurture strong relations with the team and vendors

- Ability to work with a diverse team, holds an awareness around cultural differences and is inspired to engage in dynamic relationships

- Experience in maintaining and implementing company standards and practices including GMP and GACP along with certifications such as Organic, Regenerative, Fair Wild, Fair for Life, and Fairtrade

- Experience with supply chain strategy, management and implementation

- Experience working with both Western and Ayurvedic Herbs

- Field Experience. Comfortable on farms and holds the ability to implement Banyan’s vendor qualification program

- Strong Computer Skills and is inspired to create organized systems to manage data inputs that can be accessible to other departments

Physical Requirements (not limited to)

Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, crawl, reach above and below shoulders, repetitive arm and wrist use.

Must be able to withstand all types of weather, able to have their hands in soil/ dirt, and be adaptable to different clients including hot, dry, wet and smokey.

Must be able to see and hear.

Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.

Must be able to work around moderate noise level.

Must be computer proficient.

Commitment

This is a full-time position located in the Applegate Valley, Oregon. This is open to remote work initially, and then required to be in our Oregon offices.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with the delineated duties and the candidate’s experience and ability.
