job summary:Randstad Technologies has partnered with a National Software provider that is in search of an experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in Rochester, NY. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CTO acts as the company's technological thought leader and product executor by defining the company's short and long-term technological strategy and executing against the product roadmap. The CTO is also responsible for implementing associated strategies to assist the company with achieving its business and financial goals. This position provides leadership to the Director of Product Management related to product strategy and the product roadmap; to the Director of Product Engineering related to software architecture and development; and to the Director of Infrastructure and Database Administration related to the company's systems, networks and technology needs. This position is both very strategic as an implementor and thought leader as well as providing leadership and direction to the functional leads of the Technology and Product Innovation teams.

Responsibilities Strategic
  • Leads a culture of continuous improvement by taking the lead in thought leadership, creativity, and product delivery for the software services
  • Leads strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future systems across the organization.
  • Aligns, leads, and inspires teams in planning and executing multiple complex, technical projects across all reporting departments, including the successful execution of the product roadmap.
  • Develops, tracks and controls annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing and operations of the development and deployment systems.
  • Monitors the latest trends and issues in the SaaS industry, including current technologies and prices. Advises, counsels, and educates executives and management on their competitive or financial impact.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and monitors product and technology performance metrics.
  • Oversees the technological infrastructure (networks and computer systems) in the organization to ensure optimal performance.
  • Drives agile product and platform development along with a robust software development life cycle. Oversees all system design and changes in system architecture.
  • Oversees identity and access management policies. Ensures that cyber security policies and procedures are communicated to all personnel and that compliance is enforced. Communicates recommended improvements, best practices, and risks to all parts of the business, outside of technology.
  • Monitors changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the company can gain competitive advantages. Evolves the technical architecture to utilize these trends.
  • Maintains a consumer-focused outlook and aids in the delivering of IT projects to market. Champions new ideas, capabilities, and offerings to drive business growth.
  • Manages existing relationships with corporate technology and platform technology vendors, including contract review and renewals.
Leadership
  • Evaluates the current state of workflows and processes, assesses successes and areas for improvement, has open dialogue with team members, collaborates with other departments, and sets the team on a course for continuous improvement.
  • Provides leadership and mentorship to the Director of Product Management, Director of Product Engineering, and Director of Infrastructure and Database Administration that mirrors the company's mission, vision and core values. Fosters a success-oriented, accountable environment.
  • Provides cross-functional leadership between Product Innovation, Software Engineering, and Infrastructure and Database Administration teams.
  • Determines key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Product and Technology teams and ensures outward communication to the organization.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree (preferred) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or another related field.
  • At least 10 years related work experience in the Technology field. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a leadership capacity.
  • Advanced technological skillset, demonstrated history with technology, and an eye towards the future
  • Experience building and leading the teams responsible for architecture and development
  • strong understanding of enterprise architecture including consumer facing applications, internal operational support systems and third-party vendor applications.
  • Solid experience with a platform on the Cloud
  • Experience with architecting data warehouse and business intelligence systems
  • Working knowledge of key security areas including vulnerability management, secure software development, compliance, and data privacy compliance.
  • Exceptional team management skills with the ability to delegate efficiently
