The Wisconsin Humane Society Milwaukee Campus is looking for a full-time or part-time Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our team providing care for thousands of shelter animals each year! This position offers a very competitive starting salary of $16.00/hour with few weekend and evening commitments. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Surgery prep and post op care

Anesthetize animals and monitor anesthesia

Administer treatments and dispense medications

Calculate drug dosages

Perform dental prophy

Draw blood, perform fecals, and urinalysis

Vaccinate animals

Take and develop radiographs

Clean and maintain equipment

Organize clinic and respond to phone calls

Computer entry and other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Veterinary Technician Certification achieved and maintained

Candidates must be positive, flexible, and work well with coworkers and the public

Flexibility and/or open availability to work some evening, weekend, and/or holiday shifts as needed

Must be committed to treating animals and humans with kindness and respect

Benefits

WHS offers full-time and part-time CVT’s a very competitive starting salary of $16.00/hour. In addition, hired candidates will receive a $500 bonus after 90 days and another $500 at the 6 month mark for a total of $1,000!

Full-time staff are eligible for up to 2 weeks' Vacation, 1 week Paid Time Off, and 6 paid Holidays after 45 days of employment as well as the following benefits on the first of the month following 60 days of consecutive employment after their full-time hire date:

About Us

The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin. It was founded in 1879 and operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Door, and Brown Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis. The organization offers adoption services, educational programming, and veterinary resources for animals from low-income households, retail stores, volunteer programs, and dog training classes. The Milwaukee shelter also houses the states busiest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. WHS is an independent nonprofit and receives no general government funding and is not part of any national umbrella group.
