POSITION SUMMARYThe Spiritual Counselor, in cooperation with the interdisciplinary team, provides counseling and crises intervention in order to adequately address the spiritual and psychosocial needs of hospice patients and their families. The Spiritual Counselor participates in development and implementation of the established care plan. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and must be able to utilize computers and be comfortable with electronic medical records.We are hiring a Spiritual Counselor for a per diem position.QUALIFICATIONS:Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology or appropriate certification in hospital or pastoral ministry. Masters of Divinity preferred.Experience working with patients and families dealing with life threatening illnesses and death.Ability to be open, flexible, and ecumenical. Ability to provide spiritual sensitivity to patients and families of all faiths and religious affiliations. Knowledge of beliefs and practices of various cultures related to death and dying and ability to work with dying patients and their families.Possesses a sympathetic attitude toward caring for hospice patients and demonstrates positive communication skills in interacting with other members of the hospice team.Able to utilize computers and be comfortable with EMR.Valid driver’s license, and auto insurance, reliable/well maintained transportation.
