EMERGENCY CARE TECHNICIAN – Emergency Department at Parkview Regional Medical CenterSUMMARY

The Emergency Department is located on the main floor at Parkview Regional Medical Center. The unit has 48 beds and they can flex up to 60 beds using double rooms. The ER at PRMC treats patients of all different ages with medical, surgical, and mental health needs. The level of acuity can vary greatly from a basic medical issue to a level 1 trauma.Under the direction of a licensed Nurse and with respect for human dignity delivers a variety of high quality, Under the direction of a licensed Nurse and with respect for human dignity delivers a variety of high quality, basic patient care services that meet the needs and uniqueness of assigned patients. Is responsible for the delivery of quality care and service excellence; and adheres to the PH Standards of Behavior.REQUIRED EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED. If candidate is at least 18 years of age but does not have a current High School diploma or GED, must meet the following requirements:Must be actively working towards High School Diploma or GED and receive within 1 year of hire AND have a current CNA certification or have participated in a Health Occupations Education (HOE) program.QUALIFICATIONSMust meet one of the following requirements:

current CNA, EMT, or paramedic certification

2 or more years of work experience in a healthcare-related field

currently enrolled in nursing school having completed first clinical rotation (transcripts required)

currently enrolled in a pre-Physician Assistant program (transcripts required)

must be able to complete a mandatory fulltime, two-week patient care training course

LICENSUREMust have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or be able to obtain during Parkview-provided orientation class. CNA, EMT, or Paramedic certifications preferred.OTHER QUALIFICATIONSPrefer one year minimum of experience working in the patient care setting, preferably as a patient care giver. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Demonstrates ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.Must be able to attend all three days of New Hire (Monday - all day), Patient Care (Tuesday - all day), and Epic (Thursday – morning) training.
