DescriptionPayroll Specialist III – (Upper Mid-Level position) Fortune 500 Company - One year contract to start – Benefits available after 40 hours completed.The Main function of a payroll specialist is to assist in payroll accounting and reporting, including stop payments and transactions. The typical payroll specialist will be responsible for ensuring the payroll processing is compliant with all Federal and State Laws.Project management experience & Payroll experienceHigh level of Excel capability (formulas, v look up, pivot tables)Must have - Kronos Timekeeping implementation, configuration or administration experience (Required)Understanding of payroll as a service (payroll service or business process outsource work)Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred. American Payroll Association certifications. Fundamental payroll experience. Not required but preferred.Preferred: Ideal will also have Canadian payroll experience.Years of Experience: 6+ year of experienceResponsibilities:Prepare and submit paper payroll checks for employees who do not have direct depositCollect banking information for direct deposit setup and initiate deposits on paydaysFamiliarize yourself and keep current with the taxation of salaries, benefits and other factorsProcess and monitor garnishment orders and other issues that impact payroll specificationsMaintain and document all payroll recordsConduct semi-annual audits of all payroll recordsReconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reportsReconcile general ledger with regard to payroll transactionsDetect and process issues related to uncollected payrollRespond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concernsCONTACT lisa.gaspar@roberthalf.comRequirementsMicrosoft office, Word, ExcelExcellent organization and mathematical skillsFamiliarity with Windows-based computer programs a mustEducation/Experience:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferredExperience with payroll processing and wage attachment5-7 years of ExperienceCandidate MUST have experience with Kronos Workforce Central Timekeeping. Will also require an Excel skills test (administered by Supplier).
