General Contractor in Richardson, Texas is looking for a full-time Controller

Basic Function: The controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Ensure all accounting allocations are appropriately made and documented

Perform cash management functions, budgets, cash flow analysis, etc.,

Cash disbursements, monitoring and forecasting

Payroll –enter time sheets, review, process

Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner

Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable

Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly

Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed on multiple accounts

Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis

Credit card reconciliations for multiple accounts

Enter and review all invoices to be paid

Collections: Review accounts receivable aging reports and follow up with emphasis on client retention

Coordination with external tax accountant for income tax preparation

Oversee compliance audits ie: sales tax, labor law, TWC and IRS

Human Resources: processing of all applications and updating current employee files, electronically filing documents on subcontractor applications, file I-9’s for labor audit in appropriate binders, file DWC-83 for GL audits in appropriate binders

Insurance processing and reporting

Employee Loan Management

General Ledger management and adjusting journal entries as necessary

Yearly rendition to city agency to reduce tax liability

Issue timely and complete financial statements

Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations

Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics

Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management

Identify changes in profitability and make recommendations to management

Prepare Sales Tax Report monthly and remit payment timely

Negotiate vendor agreements as well as review financial contracts when applicable

Expense reconciliation

Annual 1099’s and W-2’s

Quarterly and yearly payroll tax payments and filings

Establish and execute internal controls over the company’s accounting and financial procedures

Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives

Supply management with relevant and accurate financial data when requested

Assess risk management and efficiency

Customer Invoicing: reviewing bills prepared by others, enter in QB and email/mail invoice (includes AIA)

Create and maintain the WIP schedule

Monitor and order office supplies

Assist in the preparation of various office policies to ensure highest level of loss prevention

Filing

Answer phones

Apply for job permits

Requirements:

BA in finance and accounting

Minimum of 10 Years accounting experience with a minimum of 5 years as a Controller

Minimum of 5 years working for a General Contractor

Must have Cost Accounting experience

Must be proficient in Quick Books Enterprise - Contractor Edition and Microsoft Office Suites
