POSITION TYPE: TEMPORARY PART TIME SEASONAL

STARTING SALARY: $24.15/HR

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Professional level position responsible for providing services for the Superior Court Juvenile Division including but not limited to: investigation; evaluation; assessment; written and oral recommendations; case management services: training, support and supervision of volunteers; intervention programming; educational and informational clinics, advocacy and other related functions as may be designated by the Administrator, Unit Manager or ordered by the Court. This position will be assigned to the Intervention Services Unit and work specifically in the Truancy, At-Risk youth programs.

The Truancy Counselor will work closely with school personnel to monitor the attendance and provide case management services to youth on a truancy petition. The Truancy Counselor position requires the employee to be highly motivated, able to work as a team member, and work a non-traditional work schedule, including weekends and evenings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDING LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:

A. BA or BS degree required in the social or behavioral sciences.

B. Minimum of one (1) year direct employment experience working with At-Risk Youth, preferably in the Juvenile Justice or Education system.

C. Must be at least 21 years of age.

D. Bi-Lingual Spanish preferred

The applicant will be required to pass a comprehensive background investigation, which shows no criminal activity that could directly impact the ability to perform the job. The applicant is to have a valid State Driver’s License and be able to obtain and maintain a Defensive Driving Certificate.

This seasonal position is for the 2020-2021 school year and will end in June 2021. It’s limited to 28 hours per week and is non-benefited.
