POSITION SUMMARY: Teacher I works in a teaching dyad to provide a comprehensive, therapeutic and developmentally appropriate early childhood classroom experience, and family support through home visitation, for a group of children and their parents. FNC programs strengthen families through the development of Protective Factors, which reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect and support effective parenting in at-risk populations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Adhering to Oregon Child Care licensing, health, safety, and sanitation standards in the classroom.
Maintaining an inclusive, safe, inviting, nurturing, well organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom that promotes social and emotional regulation and support
Establishing stable routines and consistent boundaries and limits that are responsive to the needs and developmental levels of the children
Planning and facilitating a developmentally appropriate early childhood program that promotes development in all domains
Demonstrating a cultural awareness of and sensitivity to the unique needs and conditions of children and families and relates to children and parents with respect in a non-judgmental manner.
Maintaining accurate records and documentation as required. Completes Assessment and Screening on children.
Energetically playing and work with children (bend, get down and up off the floor, and lift 40 pounds)
Care Coordinates for classroom families, including monthly home visitation, parenting support, crisis intervention and advocacy for family needs, including referrals to community partners.
Participates in regular reflective supervision with supervisor
Completes 20 hours of qualified training and professional development annually (per licensing year). Some hours may be provided by FNC and the ELD however employees are responsible to ensure they meet training hour requirements.
Attend mandatory trainings.
Team teachers and work collaboratively in an early childhood therapeutic classroom Monday through Thursday.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Associate or Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education, Psychology or related field
Minimum attainment of Level 9 on Oregon Registry
Minimum of one-year experience in an early childhood classroom
Current clearance in Central Background Check Registry
Valid Oregon and unrestricted driver's license, proof of auto insurance, and a safe driving record
Reliable personal reliable transportation
Current First Aid/CPR Card (within 30 days of employment)
Current Food Handler’s Card (within 30 days of employment)
Current Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect
Current Health and Safety training through ODE ELD
Current Safe Sleep training through ODE ELD
Prevention is Better Than Treatment training through ODE ELD

PHSYICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to physically interact with children ages birth through five years, including bending, getting down and up off the floor, lifting up to 40 pounds, and managing sudden movements
Sitting, standing, driving
Vision and hearing within normal range (with or without corrections)
HAZARDS:
May come into contact with children who are ill and/or contagious
Entering potentially unsafe, unstable, or unsanitary living conditions
Driving in potentially hazardous weather or road conditions
COVID-19 considerations:
Due to COVID-19 this position may combine remote learning and soft start classroom learning with some in-person home visits.
