Anderson Studio of Architecture and Design, a design oriented, award-winning architecture and interior design firm based in Charleston, SC seeks to bolster the studio’s depth by adding a talented and experienced staff architect to the team. Experience in design, detailing and management of refined high-end single-family homes and hospitality projects is preferred. The candidate must have an exceptional design sense, a pleasant disposition, and great communication skills – both verbally and written. Strong presentation skills are also essential, both by hand as well as digitally. The Staff Architect reports to the Project Manager and Director of Architecture and Design. They will be required to follow schedules and complete design or construction documents in collaboration with their project team.

Projects will be located across the southeast with the majority on Kiawah Island and the surrounding area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Read and understand the contract/proposal scope of services and understand what is expected

Ability to produce drawings for all design phases, conceptual through construction documents with thorough technical detailing and

notation

Must have a clear knowledge of zoning ordinances and building codes, with experience in research of same

Assist Project Manager in setting and meeting quality standards for design and technical documents

Take initiative for on-time performance of the work, assist in monitoring the schedule

Function as ASAD client advocate – this means looking professional, acting professional and having a serious intellectual demeanor that represents our work. Ability to produce materials for client presentations

Assist in monitoring the design process, planning solutions, construction documents and construction administration by comparing the progress of the work to the schedule and budgeted hours for each task

Write meeting minutes for team review

Be proactive in checking team members’ work and offer solutions to rectify any problems

Assist in preparing work estimates and scope for addenda to original contracts for team review

Assist in implementation of the Project Management plan to insure adherence to schedule and budget

Maintain BIM/CAD efficiency and BIM/CAD document files

Ability to prepare digital renderings in a timely manner

Assist in coordination of all the deliverables required in the contract

Review, check, coordinate and manage shop drawings to ensure design intent is clearly communicated and understood

Attend and manage construction phase site visits

Manage in-office support of the project during construction phase

Ensure accuracy in all communications

Ensure all deadlines are met as specified by Project Manager and if necessary give adequate notice if issues are unresolved

Attend meetings as necessary

Other duties as assigned

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education: Degree in Architecture or relevant technical degree with minimum 10 years relevant experience

Software proficiency: Revit, ArchiCad, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Suite, Maya, Rhino, Lumion, experience with Apple computers and operating systems
