JOB REQUISITIONManager Revenue AccountingLOCATIONSAN RAMONJOB DESCRIPTIONRobert Half is seeking a Manager - Revenue Accounting who is responsible for the revenue accounting transactions, with particular attention to compliance with Revenue Recognition Policies US GAAP.

Leads the Revenue Accounting Team which is responsible for day-to-day accounting, pricing and attribute changes related to active revenue generating projects as well as analysis related to revenue adjustment reserves and GL and Subledger reconciliations. The Manager is responsible for ensuring the team maintain appropriate compliance with US GAAP Revenue Recognition and accounting and internal control policies.

The Manager requires experience in managing teams of professional level and supporting employees, including the delivery of training and apprenticeship to less experienced persons.

Demonstrates a customer service focus, and leads the teams to meet or exceed established service level agreements. Develop and maintain key performance indicators to evaluate the performance of the teams and areas for improvement, as well as trends impacting or affected by the field.

Proactively identify areas of improvement in the established processes, policies and procedures, and propose changes. Seek for added efficiencies and professionalism in every activity.

Specific responsibilities include:

Manage or assist the team and operations team through day-to-day process which includes:

Processing journal entry requests after reviewing for appropriate supporting evidence.

Perform quality assurance reviews on high risk/high value transactions that impact revenues or key internal reporting metrics.

Provide timely direction and feedback to the Revenue Accounting team regarding proper treatment, reporting, and documentation of complex transaction requirements. Ensure compliance with corporate policies and US GAAP.

Monitor trends in error correction, policy compliance, and other transactional behaviors and present finding to Leadership. Propose changes to the revenue accounting policy, procedures, or controls as appropriate.

Monitor compliance with Service Level Agreements, and re-prioritize work as needed.

Identify system/procedural enhancements. Work with other departments and IT to identify improvements, trouble-shoot issues, and evaluate and test modifications, changes, improvements to the subledger.

Act as the first level of escalation in resolving issues directly with other Corporate Accounting Leadership, Field Leadership, and Finance and Operations Leadership. Maintain strong working relationships within Corporate Accounting, FP&A, the Regional Finance Leads (Directors) and Finance and Operations Senior Directors.

Work directly with Field Managers and Managing Directors (Protiviti and RH). Relay complex information into common terms in a clear and concise manner so they can quickly understand the underlying concepts.

Apply knowledge of revenue policy and historical trends in preparing executive level summaries for RHI management.

Responds to and applies communication skills to facilitate resolution of field or internal inquiries

Promotes activities that provide and enhance the customer service experience

Demonstrates a customer service focus, and strives to meet and exceed service level agreements

Escalates unresolved issues appropriately

Responsible for training, staff development, and the direct supervision of a team of 2+ professional and support level employees within the Revenue Accounting Team. Responsible for performance management including: coaching, counseling, performance feedback, evaluations, and corrective action.

Responsible for developing and maintaining an appropriate apprenticeship model

Responsible for review procedures on work performed by the team

Responsible for engaging with other members of the broader Revenue Accounting Team as appropriate, including coordinating activities with the Revenue Accounting Managers for contracts and portfolio teams.

Manage or assist the team through day-to-day reconciliation and analysis which includes:

Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts between subledger and general ledger.

Prepare roll forwards of specific balances sheet accounts.

Ensure transactions are accurately identified and reconciling items are followed up on for corrections.

Implement follow-up procedures to clean up reconciling items and document the procedures.

Run various queries and reports to gather data for analysis of revenue related adjustments including bad debt reserve and sales adjustments

Prepare reports to provide information to other departments, as needed (AR pivots)

Review account reconciliations and ensure appropriate follow-thru on reconciling items.

Validate results, present findings, and recommend actions to Senior Management in Corporate Accounting, Protiviti Finance Operations, and the FSC.

Provide information as requested for use in the preparation of internal and external reporting as it relates to revenue.

Enforces team adherence to policies and procedures for internal controls over financial reporting and resolves issues as required. Establishes, maintains, and improves documentation processes to satisfy compliance requirements.

Work closely with internal and external auditors during quarterly/annual audit.

Maintains up to date knowledge on internal controls over financial reporting, the Company's revenue recognition procedures and policies.

Qualifications:

B.A., B.S. degree in Accounting

4+ years public accounting experience or 7+ years of experience in progressive accounting roles, with 2+ years supervising others. Public accounting experience strongly preferred.

Financial ERP systems experience (PeopleSoft, Workday). Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Working experience with client contracts review and revenue accounting required. Proficiency in RPAs and data synthesizer tools (DOMO, PowerBI, Tableau) preferred. Experience in a high volume, operational accounting environment preferred.

CPA preferred

Strong understanding of Sarbanes Oxley Act controls. Experience in working with large multi-location organization. Ability to comprehend new and/or complex concepts and/or systems and technology quickly. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated project management skills.
