We are seeking a full time Therapist for our Clinical Program in order to increase access to quality, trauma informed mental health services for adult victims/survivors of intersecting forms of violence and abuse in Tompkins County. The Therapist will serve individuals around needs arising from, but not limited to, intimate partner violence, child sexual abuse and sexual violence and will serve those who need short term services, trauma intervention or complex trauma services.
Provide culturally-informed, trauma-focused clinical services utilizing an evidence based or informed treatment modality with individuals and through support groups.
Effectively structure therapy sessions to support achieving mutually agreed upon goals.
Coordinate treatment and advocate for victim needs with other providers as needed.
When required, connect clients to outside resources or agencies that can better address their specific needs.
Collaborate with our victim advocates who provide support and advocacy services to agency clients receiving clinical services.
Maintain accurate and current case records using database and TheraNest
The Advocacy Center of Tompkins County www.actompkins.org, located in Ithaca, NY, is an organization whose roots are based in feminism, social change, and victim rights. We have provided services to survivors of domestic violence since 1977, child sexual abuse since 1982 and adult sexual assault since 2003.

Required Qualifications:
Possession of a valid NYS Department of Education license in Social Work (or equivalent degree/licensing) from an accredited college or university.
A minimum of two years of experience working with trauma
Sensitivity to the impact of sexual and domestic violence in diverse and marginalized communities and the ability to articulate these concerns in a sensitive and respectful manner; commitment to working from an anti-oppression, harm-reduction, and strengths based trauma-responsive approach
Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with a team, with a willingness to appreciate different points of view and problem solve in a constructive manner.

Must be able to obtain a Statewide Central Registry and Fingerprint Clearances.
