We are currently hiring for the following positions: Position: Employment CounselorLocation: Kahului, MauiCompensation: Based on Experience with a competitive benefits packageSchedule: Core hours are between 7:45am-4:30pm Monday through Friday; Travel may be required.Summary: As an Employment Counselor in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) department, you will be providing Case Management, Employment Preparation Services, Job Placement and Job Retention Services to program participants. You will counsel participants and prepare them for employment and ensure program participants are progressing towards the goals identified in the Employment Plan and Individual Service Plan. We are looking for someone whose passion is helping others, are customer service focused, and can provide daily encouragement and support to our participants.

Essential Duties:

Maintains accurate and complete records for all program participants for the purpose of case files and reporting requirements.

Develops jobs in the community and places people into gainful employment.

Collects, organizes, and analyzes information about individuals through records, tests, interviews, and professional sources, to appraise their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics, for vocational planning.

Conducts intake, assessments, and orientations for the SNAP Program.

Provides occupational, educational, and economic information to aid clients in making realistic vocational and educational objectives.

Develops individualized employment plans for participants that include appropriate goals and objectives relative to abilities, interests, experience, assessments, financial needs and labor market trends and updates as needed. Tracks participant progress to ensure continual progression towards their goals.

Provides pre-employment training and job development services to program participants.

Assists participants in identifying other resources to enhance their opportunities for employment within the community and makes referrals as needed.

Develops effective relationships with business and industry in order to educate and advise regarding program services. Contacts prospective employers to determine their needs, and to explain placement services.Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from four year college or university; and

One to two years related experience; or

Equivalent combination of education and experience

Excellent communication and organizational skillsPreferred Qualifications:

One to two years’ experience working with individuals with barriers

Experience with Motivational Counseling and Interviewing

Comfortable with public speaking and motivational interviewing techniques

Training experience with individuals or groups up to 20
