Elementary Teacher 17 yrs Oregon Public School Experience-Home Tutor for 3rd-to-6th grade

Compensation: $35 per hour with 6 student maximum

I certainly understand the need for kids to have one on one, and face to face interaction with their teacher (and other kids) in the midst of the COVID regulations. I fully support families seeking to provide this kind of interaction for their kids. But, in these unpredictable times you need an expert to help. My background and experience as a teacher, coach, as well as a motivator are what I bring to the table. But more important than all of these qualities, is that I have a passion to help kids be successful, and I seek to develop this same passion with a small group of students.

I’m presently K-9 classroom (K-12 PE) licensed in the State of Oregon, with a clear background check. I have a Masters in Teacher Education (University of Oregon). I have also worked with over 1000 students at the K-5 level. My experience has been very diverse, working at a Title 1 bilingual school, a school with kids from middle-class families, and a school with students from high-level socioeconomic settings (Blue Ribbon School). I have learned to relate to students, parents, and staff from all walks of life.

I thoroughly understand, and have been successful in: designing curriculum, managing classrooms, effectively interpreting data, and utilizing different instructional strategies. My specialities are brain research and learning, health/wellness, reading, writing, math, and Growth Mindset.

My days/hours: 1:30-4:00 pm. Monday-to-Friday. My morning tutoring time is already booked. My driving distance: Happy Valley, Oregon City, West Linn, and Milwaukie.

I will come to your house. There needs to be an adult present in the home. Families need to provide school supplies (which is very minimal).

This is how I envision this home tutoring working: 1) Provide grade level assessments to track progress. 2) Check school work. 3) Teach testing skills to help pass quizzes, grade level test, and the Common Core State Test. 4) Help improve art skills. 5) District assigned projects - how to enjoy and get A’s. 6) Teach real-world experiences so kids don’t get bored. 7) Improve study habits. 8) Utilize technology. 9) Provide internet resources to go the “extra mile”. 10) Have fun.

I’ve had dozens of parent volunteers throughout my teaching career. If needed, I can provide their letters of recommendation. In addition to these parent letters, I also can supply letters of reference from supervisors and colleagues.

My past experiences in teaching have been very rewarding, but I have been looking for opportunities to help students through these challenging times. Your child will make incredible academic progress with this individualized attention.

If you are interested in what I can provide for your chid, please contact me in the Craigslist email link or phone number. Thank you for your time and consideration.
