Window Covering Technician (Missoula)

Kerr's Custom Draperies is a window covering manufacturer and dealer that's been fabricating and installing window treatments across Montana since 1964. We are looking for someone to join our team as a Window Covering Technician who can take ownership of the position and work closely with our workroom staff as a critical team member.

The candidate for this position will be provided on the job training and preparation for managing the following responsibilities:

-measuring and installing drapery rods in customer homes and businesses

-measuring and installing blinds from top national brands as well as blinds made right in our workroom

- performing repairs on blinds and other window treatments

- packaging and shipping completed projects

- receiving materials and maintaining organization with supplies

- measuring and cutting wood

- assisting with basic workroom duties

Skills and Qualifications:

- high school diploma or GED required

- degree or certificate from technical college preferred

- must be comfortable on ladders and able to lift up to 60 pounds over your head

- - occassionally jobs will require installing heavy window treatments at difficult heights

- good with tools including hand tools and power tools (drill, table saw, miter saw, etc.)

- highly organized with attention to detail

- ability to use online organizational tools such as a shared calendar and email

- ability to use the internet as a resource for product information and instruction

- excellent problem solving skills

- ability to articulate technical information in a way that customers can understand

- ability to communicate information from measures and installs to the workroom staff

- willingness to take initiative

- interested in growing with the business

In addition to the items listed above, we are looking for someone who is outgoing and easy to work with. We are a small, diverse workroom with young ownership and an eye for growth. Starting out we are guaranteeing 24 hours of work per week with the rest of your schedule determined by the demands of our install schedule. Our goal is to quickly develop this into a full time position with the right candidate.
