Performs a variety of kitchen duties as assigned in the preparation and serving of hospital meals. Works under direct supervision and follows standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.

Provides no supervision to others.

Skills :

Ability to work with various pieces of kitchen equipment (large and small) that are appropriate for tasks to be completed

Ability to work perishable and non-perishable food products, cleaning supplies, and service supplies

Punctual, reliable, trustworthy

Ability to work cooperatively with others and to work quickly, neatly and efficiently

Must have good personal hygiene practices and neat appearance; uniform must comply with current Food and Nutrition Services dress code after hire

Must be available to work assigned shift

Basic math skills

Must be able to communicate effectively giving and receiving information in a manner easily understood by co-workers (English does not have to be first language although the ability to read, write, speak, and follow directions is required)

Able to distinguish colors - red / green; blue / yellow; etc.

Minimum Position Qualifications :

Education :

High School graduate or equivalent

Preferred Position Qualifications :

Previous food service experience

Computer skills (Excel & Word) and cash handling

Customer service / phone skills
