ABOUT THE TEAM

RealPage is looking for a Database Administrator level 3 (MySQL / Postgres / Oracle / DB2) to support production and non-production environments.

You will be responsible for the design, implementation and administration of multiple database management systems to support our many product lines on Unix / Linux.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

You will evaluate and design logical and physical databases; use modeling techniques to analyze and specify data usage within application areas;

define logical views and physical data structures.

Install, configure and administer MySQL / PostgreSQL / Oracle / DB2 databases in Linux / Unix OS.

Perform database development and administration tasks in non-production and production database environments.

Evaluate and monitor databases to resolve performance issues, minimize data redundancy and support capacity planning.

Create / alter databases; replicate databases; perform day-to-day database administration.

Design, implement and support database backup and recovery procedures.

Perform problem determination (root cause analysis) and document the source of problems and their resolution.

Aid customers and other staff members in resolving errors resulting from the use of applications. Recognize and analyze trends in errors to identify and install long term solutions to problems.

Provide On-Call Support on a rotation basis.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

College degree in computer related field or equivalent experience required.

Minimum 4-8 years of proven experience of Open Source Database Administration (MySQL / PostgreSQL / Oracle / DB2) on Linux / Unix OS

Experience in Production Support is a big plus.

Experience with Oracle Databases would be nice but not required.

Possess and be able to apply knowledge of database principles and practice.

Skill in writing Shell scripts to automate database maintenance activities.

Well Versed with using the Linux Operating System and the OS Commands.

Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and in multi-database environments.
