Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities:

A Chauffer II is responsible for transporting passengers in a safe and courteous manner. They are also responsible to ensure the safety of passengers, the general public and Hope Network property.

Qualifications

The ability to obtain a Michigan chauffeurs license endorsement and be trained and proficient in the transport of wheelchairs.

Demonstrated ability to communicate in verbal and written formats to meet position responsibilities.

Knowledge of the Kent County area.

Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and acceptable driving record according to Hope Network West Michigan policies.

Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as a part of a team for the accomplishment of the department and agency mission and goals.

Physical ability to move a person in a wheelchair (500 lbs. combined weight) up and down a ramp, up and down one nine-inch step, and on and off a wheelchair lift.

Physical ability to secure a person in a wheelchair (500 lbs. combined weight) into a standard four-point tie down securement system.

Physical ability required climbing into and out of van, bend, stoop, and twisting repetitively.

Satisfactory completion of training in the following areas:

a. First aid

b. Epilepsy

c. Vehicle maintenance

d. Defensive driving

e. Radio communications

f. Sexual harassment.

g. Other training as required.

Ability to actively support and articulate the mission of the organization to various audiences

You do not need a chauffer's license to apply for this position. The Hope Network Transportation Department may help you to attain one.
