Make.Shift is looking for a new Executive Director.

The ideal applicant for this position will have skills in management, community organizing, fundraising, and budgeting. Make.Shift has worked hard to build lasting community ties and create a strong organizational foundation for the new Executive Director to build upon. We provide a solid infrastructure and passionate staff, while leaving room for new ideas and management styles. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about the vibrant, young art and music subculture we foster, and who is eager to build on our success.

Key skills include good time management, the ability to delegate, and excellent written and verbal communication. Experience working with a board of directors and an understanding of Bellingham’s art and music community are a plus.

This position is 35-40 hours per week and offers a great amount of flexibility. During the time of COVID this position is mostly remote but not 100%.

Duties:

Staff management: Manage staff, interns and volunteers. Facilitate staff meetings as well as work closely with staff to oversee projects and hold them accountable to deadlines.

Fundraising: Event planning and execution, online fundraising/crowdfunding and direct ask.

Sponsorships: Work with staff to seek new sponsors, maintain existing relationships with business sponsors.

Budgeting: Assist Board & Staff with annual budgeting and maintain knowledge of the budget throughout the year.

Board Relations: Report to Board of Directors and attend monthly board meetings.

Public Relations: Act as the organization’s voice, oversee PR, and act as the organization’s community representative. Behave professionally on and off the clock.

Building Oversight: Manage all on­site construction and maintenance projects.

Make monthly financial deposits, work consistently with our bookkeeper to keep out accounting clear and organized.

Organizational management: continue to aid in organization growth, work on evolving needs for the staff and board, keep up systems, create new systems and keep the ship sailing forward.

Education/Experience: Minimum one year non-profit experience or equivalent, including budgeting and fundraising. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Salary: Salary dependent on qualifications and experience of the applicant.
