Duties and responsibilities :
Originates, refines, and releases complex manufacturing work directions
Plans and performs engineering testing and development programs and uses advanced statistical and scientific methods to address and resolve critical engineering and production problems to assure product manufacturability / inspectability
Establishes operating procedures on new products and components
Writes technical reports on results and conclusions drawn from experiments conducted and incorporates findings in formal specifications
Estimates set-up times, flow-times, costs of production equipment, and compiles cost estimates and delivery quotations, monitors performance, and prepares reports, statistics, and recommendations for management review
Defines and implements manufacturing tooling required to complete the manufacturing processes
Performs root cause analysis on manufacturing defects and implements corrective actions
Defines and recommends new designs, design changes, and alternate designs of instruments, and test equipment, and orders tooling, gaging, and equipment necessary to assure product quality
Determines acceptability of processes and materials in conjunction with design agency and other affected organizations
Interacts with design agency and / or supplier counterparts to resolve moderate to complex design, development, production and acceptance issues
Based on research, applies, develops and recommends innovative methodologies and technologies to resolve processing, inspection and design problems
Responsible for work that may involve longer range and / or complex business objectives in field of expertise
Conducts research and development experiments to resolve complex engineering and quality problems involving highly technical and scientific methods
May perform other duties as required
You Must Have :
US citizenship in order to obtain a US Dept of Energy ""Q"" level security clearance
Six or more years of relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering or related technical activities, such as manufacturing, inspection processing or tool design
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from an ABET accredited Engineering program, or a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from an accredited program
We Value :
Knowledge of electrical / mechanical manufacturing assembly processes and qualification processes preferred
Has demonstrated excellent and effective verbal, written and presentation skills
Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies including Six Sigma
Ability to plan and organize, demonstrate excellent time management and support several projects at once
Applied knowledge of standard office and engineering drafting software
Ability to apply design, development, evaluation, and quality control techniques to routine through moderately complex engineering projects
Ability to analyze routine to moderately complex engineering designs and specifications to achieve efficient and reliable manufacturing or acceptance processes
