This position is for a senior professional in Manufacturing Engineering to serve as the site Special Processes leader. As a Staff Engineer, this position will be involved in Chemical Processing, Painting, Media Finishing, NDT (Non-Destructive Testing), and Welding.

Candidate will lead our manufacturing improvement operations and become a subject expert on assigned projects, technologies, and products.

Individual must interact with production personnel, other Manufacturing Engineers, Design Engineers, Outside Vendors and Quality to solve and improve manufacturing processes that will improve performance, quality, and yields.

This position requires in-depth knowledge and highly developed technical expertise in Manufacturing Engineering, who designs assembly lines and sequences across multiple business units.

Implements manufacturing processes and process improvements across multiple cells, executes changes to improve products and reduce costs, and reviews manufacturability of existing and future products

Primary Responsibilities :

Serves as Special Processes expert for Chemical Processing, Painting, NDT, media finishing, and welding NADCAP requirements

Works and maintains NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program).

Provide factory floor support and maintain production processes related to NADCAP special processes, NDT, Chemical Processing, Welding, Brazing, and Painting such as routers, work instructions, quality notifications, and related process improvements and compliance

Ensure that manufacturing production, processing, and fabricating operations involving NADCAP special processes are accomplished under controlled conditions that comply with the PRI (Performance Review Institute) NADCAP Checklist requirements for the applicable commodity

May be required to audit special process compliance, at a minimum, annually

Arranges training as required for NADCAP requirements

Supports internal audits to PRI checklist requirements throughout the year to sustain compliance

Supports audits with PRI to maintain certification to latest checklist revision

Creates Procedures, Work Instructions and Process control Plans as needed to comply with required special process requirements

Champions group of engineers and technicians for NADCAP compliance and improvements

Experienced with AS9100

Upgrade processes to meet or improve EH&S related projects such as ergonomic improvements, work cell layouts, SDS related improvements, waste stream reduction

Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control to ensure compliance and effective production, including Key Characteristics and Key Process Inputs

Checks and validates that mandatory modifications, programs, and bulletins are incorporated or complied with, as required by the customer and the applicable regulatory requirements, to ensure legal compliance and adherence to quality standards.

Learn and use basic Lean (ACE) and 6sigma tools including value stream mapping, standardized work, statistical capability and ANOVA analysis

Designs and develops manufacturing processes for products, taking into consideration problems inherent in the transfer of technology from research to manufacturing;

Such design and development may include new or revised processes.

Develops procedures for the economical and efficient production in cooperation with production departments and NADCAP compliance

Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables; and services, troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation.

Reviews field support requirements and recommends tools and test equipment.

Make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.

Process new Capital Equipment, such as writing capital funding requests, Statement of Work & Validation requirements; interface with vendors

Must have the ability to work with cross functionally with operations, maintenance, quality and design engineering to implement robust processes.

Qualifications

CAD software,

LEAN 6 sigma experience

Microsoft Office;

Significant experience and knowledge in NADCAP, AS9100, ISO, auditing

Demonstrated experience and knowledge of motivating, training, developing and managing people

Possess ability to communicate at all levels of the business both internal and external

Demonstrated ability to challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks or work activities. Able to identify and implement creative, innovative solutions

Proven ability to lead and facilitate in a team environment and build consensus in a positive manner with customers and team members

Strong planning, organizing, and time management skills. Proficiency in setting priorities and executing multiple assignments in a timely and efficient manner

Preferred Qualifications :

Knowledge of NADCAP Chemical Processing, Painting, NDT, Welding, ACE Lean Principles

Basic Qualifications :

This position requires a STEM Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience.

US Citizenship or Permanent Residence is required.
