JOB SUMMARYAssist the Terminal Manager in effectively leading, directing and controlling all activities related to the efficient and effective functioning of the facility in order to meet or exceed customer expectations, as well as facility and company goals.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Actively engage in building a culture that puts Safety First, thus reducing the risk of injuries, accidents, and cargo claims. Ensure engagement and accountability for all safety policies and processes, insist on compliance with federal/state regulations and company and area policies/procedures, and conduct regular self-audits.

Direct and coordinate all activities of the terminal operation which enable the delivery of superior service while safely operating in cycle and minimizing costs.

Develop and maintain a structure of accountability and responsibility with the management team in order to execute on lead measures, resulting in continuous process improvements.

Ensure proper training of employees as required in all functional areas by establishing training goals, assuring that periodic training is accomplished as scheduled, and routinely reviewing each individual’s progress.

Ensure effective hiring, on-boarding, training, coaching, and development of all terminal employees. Establish and communicate performance expectations, consistently monitor performance, and give positive and corrective performance feedback, as appropriate.

Support terminal sales efforts to achieve forecast attainment by building positive business relationships with the local sales team and customers. Address specific customer related issues in collaboration with the local sales team. Recommend and implement business solutions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Seven (7) years of related work experience.

Previous management and/or supervisory experience.

Clear, concise, and accurate written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Proven ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Decision-making ability with excellent customer focus and demonstrated attention to detail with proven track record for delivering results.

Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced/high volume environment.

Ability to work extended hours, including nights and/or weekends as necessary.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Five (5) or more years’ successful operations and/or sales experience.

Knowledge of company policy, procedures and applicable collective bargaining agreements.

WORKING CONDITIONSThis job frequently operates in a professional office environment indoors and occasionally on dock and shop floors in the terminal. Employee may occasionally encounter vibration, noise, odors, and extremes in temperature and wind as well as exposure to varied weather, varied surfaces, sharp edges, varied lighting and confined and congested areas and occasionally exposure to petroleum-based products such as gasoline, diesel fuel, oil, and grease.

PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Continually speaking and hearing, giving and receiving directions. Occasionally reaching or stretching and crouching or stooping.
