Our Commercial Product division is growing, and we are establishing a new Clinical Products team, tasked with updating our product portfolio and building next-gen solutions that transform the lives of people struggling with the most complex and costly conditions. As a Senior Product Director, you will lead collaborative projects with multidisciplinary stakeholders and clinical leaders across Anthem to oversee the end-to-end creation of new products from concept to launch. You will use data and marketplace research to rationalize plans and drive build vs. buy analyses. You will also actively manage the product lifecycle for several existing condition management products within our portfolio. Your knowledge of our clients’ evolving needs, the competitive landscape, and our sales performance combine to guide your product roadmap decisions to retire out-of-date products or reimagine them.You will “own” your products and be the source of truth for them. You will maintain product performance dashboards, document changes to sales parameters, and occasionally collaborate with our sales and account management organization to support key client meetings. Your key attributes:

Masterful at cross-functional communication to ensure all clinical and non-clinical stakeholders have everything needed to collaborate effectively

Proven “radar” for identifying when a struggling project needs additional guidance or knowledge from other experts within Anthem

Strong experience delivering solutions that delight customers and stakeholders and deliver on the intended value proposition, and managing customer expectations when a solution will not deliver the results envisioned

Primary duties:

Champions the vision and guides the product strategy and roadmap.

Sets development priorities and secures stakeholder alignment along the way.

Oversees the implementation of new products or product changes/enhancements.

Ensures collaborative workflow and checks and balances are maintained at each stage of development by following Anthem’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) approach.

Mentors, coaches, and counsels team members with dotted-lined accountability to you.

Reviews, analyzes and makes recommendations on rate actions for existing products.

Determines customer needs and preferences through research and analysis of industry technology, current processes and other methods.

Monitors product performance and the competitive environment by benefit design, market segment and sub region.

Ensures products meet competitive and legislative needs.

Supports the development of short and long-term strategic product promotions in support of market, sales and profitability objectives.

Identifies operating requirements to support short and long-term product strategy.

Refines policies/process that increase speed and agility of our product development approach

Qualifications Requires a BA/BS degree; MBA preferred; 7-10 years of relevant industry experience (product/program management, product planning/strategy); or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.Direct product management experience with complex, high-cost conditions is highly preferred (e.g., behavioral health, musculoskeletal, cancer, heart failure, diabetes, lung disorders, kidney disease, organ failure, morbid obesity, mental health, and substance use disorder).Proven experience managing direct reports and cross-functional teams.Demonstrated results in three or more of the following areas required: Product Development, Market Strategy, Market Research or Risk Management.Anthem, Inc. is ranked as one of America’s Most Admired Companies among health insurers by Fortune magazine and is a 2019 DiversityInc magazine Top 50 Company for Diversity.
