TRUCK DISPATCHER/ROUTER-Hillside, NJ

Must be out of Foods and must be strong in routing.

My client is currently seeking to hire a Truck Dispatcher/Router for their manufacturing facility in Hillside, NJ. The primary role of truck dispatchers is to schedule drivers to make deliveries and pick up packages or shipments from customers. Truck dispatchers communicate with customers to record details about shipments, arrange pick up times and discuss any special handling issues. They also set up driver routes. In addition, truck dispatchers review drivers’ logs and maintain various records, such as those pertaining to dispatched calls, vehicle repair, freight bills, and arrival times

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops must efficient routes for drivers

Keeps records, monitoring drivers' daily logs for errors or violations and monitoring their working hours and equipment availability.

Keeps tabs on the weather at all drivers' locations to be able to flag potential issues, typically with the aid of numerous computer programs.

Serves as a reliable point of contact to balance drivers' health and safety with customer requirements.

Coordinates and manages the most efficient loads to remain cost-effective as a company, combining shipments based on their routes and timeline to minimize how many trucks and drivers are out.

Determines the best delivery methods and negotiate rates directly with vendors and customers.

Tracks and reports transportation daily, weekly and monthly KPI’s.

Coordinate and communicate daily with our lease providers for all equipment PM’s, service, breakdowns, replacement equipment.

Reports weekly and monthly mileage and refrigeration hours to lease providers

Keeps all DOT records physicals, license renewals, random drug screening and annual (driving record) reviews.

Works closely with Warehouse to insure shipping and receiving tasks are completed in a timely fashion.

Knowledge of warehouse inventory, will be involved in monthly cycle counts.

Timely follow up on damaged shipments and or returned product

Understands and gives feedback to production planner with customer requests and deliveries.

Communicates with customers with the proper documents and shipment information.

QUALIFICATIONS:

3+ years experience in trucking dispatch, customer service, or courier service

Routing experience required must have knowledge of the metropolitan area

Food service experience a plus but not required

Strong experience in prioritizing work activities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within set deadlines and timelines

Supervisory experience a plus

Knowledge of administrative operations like typing, scanning documents, data entry, Microsoft Office Suite

High school diploma
