MAM (Memorial Assistance Ministries), located in the Spring Branch community of Houston, Texas, has an immediate need for a part-time Cashier with experience as a Floor Supervisor in our Re-Sale Store.

Our ideal candidate is a person who is looking to work 25-28 hours per week and who finds joy in working in a culture of philanthropy and providing for community needs. All candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Our cashiers ensure that our customers leave the MAM Resale Shop knowing they have had a friendly experience. It is important that all our Resale Shop staff recognize that 50% of the store revenues provide funds for programs at MAM. Additionally, the store is the venue for distribution of no-cost items to clients who are enrolled in our service programs using vouchers issued by their service provider to purchase necessary items to help get them back on their feet.

o Demonstrate ability to work with people from all walks of life and treat everyone with dignity and respect

o Has reliable transportation to and from work (personal or public)

Qualifications:

o Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish (read write speak, and understand) to communicate with our customers, clients, and donors

o Ability to work occasionally in the evenings or on weekends to support or attend MAM events

o Experience with resale, thrift, or warehouse tasks

o Demonstrated accuracy on cash register and related duties

o Leadership qualities with focus on firm, fair, and consistent guidelines for leading a team

o Reliable use of a smartphone

Education and Experience:

o Required - High school or GED graduate; will utilize math and reading/writing skills

o Two + years of supervisory experience in a resale or retail floor supervisory

o Two + years working as a cashier

Physical:

o Regularly required to stand for long periods, walk, and sit for extended periods.

o Regularly uses dexterity to operate cash register keys, keyboard, and doors. Work with merchandise, tools, or controls, and reaches with hands and arms.

o Must be able to hear and communicate verbally with customers and co-workers.

o Ability to lift up to 25 pounds with assistance.

o Works primarily indoors, but some outdoor work may be required in all seasons.
