Boulder Shelter for the Homeless - Landlord Recruiter/Retention Specialist

The primary service goal of the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless is to create avenues to stable housing for homeless adults. The Shelter partners with Boulder County, the cities of Boulder and Longmont and a variety of service providers to create a coordinated response to address homelessness with a Housing First approach. This new position is intended to be a community wide resource designed to address two primary objectives. First, overcome the difficulties homeless individuals experience when trying to find landlords who accept rental assistance vouchers. Second, provide support to Landlords who agree to work with rental assistance vouchers so their service can be retained.

Primary Responsibilities - Work to increase the availability, access and retention of rental housing assets available to homeless voucher holders through the following activities:

Identify and recruit new Landlords willing to work with voucher based rental assistance.

Support Landlord retention by implementing effective communication and supportive strategies.

Discover rental opportunities for the hardest to house with difficult criminal backgrounds including registered sex offenders.

Inform on and promote fidelity to Housing First principals to both Landlords and housing providers.

Identify and/or develop technologies to facilitate the access to available housing resources to end users and housing providers.

Qualifications:

Significant experience in Property Management, Homeless Housing, Sales/Marketing. Rental Assistance Vouchers, Affordable Housing, Housing First, preferred.

B.A. in related field preferred.

Excellent interpersonal skills. Personable. Positive attitude. Ability to inspire trust.

Excellent collaborative and communication skills.

Experience in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with partners holding different perspectives and/or opposing needs.

Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills. Ability to address competing priorities.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, self-motivate, can do attitude.

Proficient in Microsoft suite programs.

Can provide references to support the above qualifications.

Valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation
