Ozarks Remodeling & Design is looking for a lead carpenter.

As a lead carpenter, you’ll both be doing renovation and performing on-site management and supervision. So here’s the deal: Ozarks Remodeling does remodeling jobs differently. We’re a small remodeling company with an excellent track record of quality work as well as loyalty to our people in over 4 years of business.

For remodeling projects, each job gets its own lead carpenter who helps to drive the job to completion and can act as a primary point of contact for the client. That’s where you come in.

You’ll be acting as the lead carpenter, helping to complete primarily bathroom projects and taking leadership of a wide range of other projects including kitchens and basements. In other words, you have to be as good with people as you are with carpentry and tile.

We specialize in bathrooms, but we don’t turn down well-payed work and we keep our crews busy. That’ll include you if you join our team.

As mentioned in our bullet points, pay is based on experience.

For a lead carpenter we are looking for 5 years or more experience in remodeling, and any experience in other construction related fields is definitely a bonus.

Valid driver's license w/ a clean driving record,

You’ll need your own vehicle and tools

Ability to pass our background check prior to hiring.

Additional Position Requirements:

Strong communication,

job coordination, organizational and supervisory skills.

Extensive rough and finish carpentry skills.

Knowledge of a broad range of construction methods and techniques.

A basic understanding of all trades relevant to the project.

The ability to interact and communicate well with the customer throughout the job.

Position Responsibilities:

On-site project management and supervision

Actively perform carpentry work, at the highest level, from the beginning to the end of each assigned project.

Supervise apprentice carpenters and trade partners

Order materials and schedule trade partners

Coordinate scheduling and details with the project manager and the customers

Ensure jobsite safety and enforce jobsite rules. Inspect all equipment for proper safety features and ensure unsafe conditions are corrected.

Maintain regular customer contact for duration of projects

Train apprentice carpenters in our methods and procedures

Make work assignments, monitor quality, and motivate crew.

Expedite timely completion of the work to maintain schedule and budget goals.

Track project expenses on Buildertrend with the appropriate cost codes.

Read and interpret paperwork, including all plans and specifications, purchase orders, subcontractor work orders, and cost updates. Bring questions, discrepancies and unusual conditions to the attention of the Project Manager.

Provide necessary information to the Project Manager for change notices. You must understand change order procedure and ensure that all change orders are written up and signed prior to implementation.

Understand the scope of the work and discuss all requests for additional work with the Project Manager.

Maintain the permit paperwork with plans, construction documentation, engineering letters, etc.

Participate in pre-construction conference, jobsite inspections with the Project Manager, local building department inspections, and final (end of job inspections).

Request help, as required, anticipating the need for additional carpenters so they can be scheduled in a timely fashion.

Responsible for reporting late trade partners, discipline problems, problems with schedules and keeping the Project Manager informed of job status.

Order materials and coordinate trade partners with Project Manager. You must plan ahead for timely material delivery and subcontractor start dates. Use the vendor’s delivery services whenever possible.

Responsible for completing Daily Log on Buildertrend

Responsible for ensuring the End of Day checklist and procedures are handled: clean up, weather protection and security. Must notify customers in advance of service interruption.

You are responsible for ensuring the jobsite is kept separate and sealed off from unaffected areas of the home. Company provided air scrubber is to be running at all times - a virtually dust-free environment is expected by our customers.

Act as a customer liaison throughout the project. You will be the primary contact for the customer throughout the project. Speak knowledgeably and honestly with the customer. Provide solutions to their questions, soliciting help from the Project Manager when necessary. Provide the customer with emergency telephone numbers.

Maintain discipline of team members and trade partners on the job. You are responsible for maintaining correct dress and behavior standards on the job.

Attend and participate in weekly progress meetings.

Any other general tasks & responsibilities, as required.

Be able to lift 50-75 lbs.
