POSITION SUMMARY : This position shall act as a liaison between the clinical areas and the Information Technology Department.

This includes the primary responsibility of determining the needs and requirements for clinical applications in acute and ambulatory healthcare ancillary departments.

The Clinical Informatics Specialist will also lead projects associated with the evaluation, selection, and implementation of clinical systems (i.

e. EHR, PACS, digital imaging, etc.). This individual will work with staff and physicians to optimize the usage of clinical systems through education and training, quality outcomes, and providing support in accordance with organizational goals.

The individual in this position reports to the Manager of Informatics. This position works closely with Information Technology, Hospital and Clinic Services, Ancillary departments, and providers in order to support the computing needs of the healthcare organization / departments.

The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategy of Newport Hospital and Health Services, personifying service and operational excellence.

The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of Information Technology along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates.

Requirements

EDUCATION / TRAINING REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and education, or equivalent experience and education.

Comprehensive understanding of clinical principles to evaluate information system needs.

Experience in Acute or Ambulatory Clinical setting required.

Three to five (3-5) years of project management experience required.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Excellent customer service skills.

Proficient with computers (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.Preferred Qualifications :

EPIC experience. Transition Program Manager experience.

Two (2) to three (3) years’ experience with systems implementation and support preferred.

Proficient with report writing software (Crystal Reports, etc.) preferred. Newport Hospital & Health Services (NHHS) is an equal opportunity employer.
