Job Responsibilities

Develop experimental testing plans for multiple purposes, including to evaluate new hardware designs and chamber materials, characterize equipment subsystem functionality, and to optimize equipment performance for specific customer applications.

Execute experimental testing plans on lab equipment on-site, including but not limited to installing and configuring equipment hardware, modifying equipment operating conditions, processing wafers, performing wafer metrology, and troubleshooting issues.

Characterizes and solves contamination and chemistry-related reliability problems involving chamber hardware used in semiconductor processing.

Performs hands-on development of new and modified wet-etching and cleaning methods for chamber hardware.

Performs material and failure analysis

Specifies surface analysis techniques used to characterize surface cleanliness and finish.

Present on project status and final engineering results at various settings including business organization level review meetings.

Create and / or update end user technical documentation, products specifications and supplier procedures.

Interfaces with suppliers and engineering (design, process, and manufacturing) to develop processes that solve production problems.

Knowledge transfer of successful methods will require travel to cleaning suppliers (domestic and international)

Minimum Qualification

PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physical Chemistry or Chemical Engineering required. Masters level with direct experience considered.

Preferred Qualification

Strong background in surface chemistry especially as related to metals and ceramics preferred

Analytics and Metrology experience

JMP and / or Origin experience a plus

5-15 years of related experience

Knowledge of semiconductor device manufacturing, including common operations such as lithography, wet and dry etching, deposition, electroplating, and CMP

Knowledge of plasma chamber equipment subsystems and operating principles

Knowledge of fundamental electromagnetics, as well as RF power delivery and plasma processing

Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), statistical measurements and hypothesis tests

Experience with wafer metrology equipment such as SEM, CDSEM, Ellipsometry, and Optical Defect Inspection

Basic understanding of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

Fluent in English language, both writing and verbal communication

Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
