Summary

The controller will pay a critical role in delivering accurate and timely financial reports. The responsibilities include managing the monthly close process, inter-company allocations, purchase order management, budgetary controls and maintaining full monthly reconciliation and subsidiary ledgers for all income statement and balance sheet items.

The position involves supervision over general accounting of current staff, establishing policies and procedures, preserving internal controls, managing the audit process, ensuring tax compliance and compliance with all relevant federal and state regulatory requirements.

The Controller role will work directly with the Company’s external auditors and is a position that requires an expertise and understanding in all aspects of accounting and SEC reporting, including consolidation, inventory management, SOX compliance, complex debt and financing, equity and equity based compensation, variable interest entities, lease accounting and transfer pricing, among others.

This is a leadership position that is also expected to be hands on and fully exposed to all moving parts of the financial statements.

The position will require a hyper-inquisitive mind and a nonstop continual drive for improvement.

Essential Functions

Oversee the activities of the corporate accounting department in accordance to GAAP for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets.

Maintain full monthly schedules for all balance sheet items.

Maintain detailed schedule of fixed assets, intangible assets and corporate operating / capital lease.

Prepares and reviews journal entries.

Prepare and maintain a cost allocation template for the various subsidiaries.

Manage multiple LLCs.

Ensure tax compliance and timely filing of tax return.

Manages cash transfers, wire transfers and bank reconciliations.

Coordinate annual independent audit.

Maintain updated chart of accounts and supervise general ledger maintenance.

Conducts monthly and year-end closing of accounting records.

Oversee the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing and total corporate payroll tax compliance.

Establishes processes and procedures, create templates for staff to ensure general ledger records are updated in compliance with GAAP as well as developing and implementing enhancements to accounting control procedures.

Assure corporate income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.

Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value.

Respond to SVP of Accounting as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate his financial needs.

Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.

Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner.

Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

CPA certification.

Ten years of hands-on accounting managerial experience.

6+ years’ experience in a fast-growing industry.

Cost accounting experience, working knowledge of GAAP.

Management experience.

Preferred Education and / or Experience

MBA.

QuickBooks experience preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position is responsible for managing the accounting department staff only.

Working Conditions

Identify This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Requirements This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
