We would be happy to hear from you.This is a golden age of heart transplantation, and the Heart Transplant Program at the Smidt Heart Institute is a trailblazer for the procedure in the US and around the world.For four years in a row, the program has completed more adult heart transplants than any other medical facility in the nation. Heart failure—when the heart pumps less blood than the body needs—is the most common reason the procedure is necessary.Our physicians work closely with other programs, including the Heart Failure Program, Mechanical Circulatory Support Program, Interventional Cardiology and the Regenerative Medicine Clinic.More than a thousand patients have undergone transplants at Cedars-Sinai since the program was established in 1988, according to UNOS. Because we treat more of these patients than any other center in the United States, we can tailor our approach to each individual's needs.Summary of Essential Duties:

The Clinical Nurse III, under the direction of the Associate Director and Clinical Program Manager, performs a variety of tasks specific to the needs of the patient population

Retrieving and recording diagnostic test results done at Cedars-Sinai or patient’s community medical facility

Preparing for lab review with MD/Coordinators

Entering orders for clinic visits

Calling patients with test results and medication changes

Handling pharmacy refill requests over the phone and/or on paper

Following-up on pending test results

Performs data entry into the transplant database

Perform telephone triage

Communicate with Physicians appropriately and directly

Organizes mobile phlebotomy services for patient when needed

Education:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program required

BSN preferred

License/Certification:

Current, unrestricted California RN license required

BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required

Specialty certification required (or willing to obtain within one year of start date)

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing experience required

ICU, Transplant floor, or Cardiac experience preferred
