Local Hire appointments may be extended, in 120 day increments, for a maximum 365 day appointment, based on the needs of the disaster.Work within 23 different Cadres which are groups of personnel organized by operational function and FEMA Qualification System (FQS) position.Each Local Hire is hired to a position within a Cadre based on his or her skills and experience. FEMA is seeking candidates with experienceworking withgeospatialdata.In this position, you will serve as a staff advisor to the Federal Disaster Recovery Coordinator (FDRC) and Federal Disaster Recovery Officer (FDRO) on all recovery geospatial and data issues related to the overall mission of FEMA during disaster recovery field operations.Typical assignments include: Implementing the National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF).Producing maps and data products expressing the results of analytical processes using ESRI products, Excel, PowerBI or Tableau, as well as Python, R, SQL, or other programming languages.Coordinating GIS and data activities associated with the National Disaster Recovery Support with internal and external partners.Identifying critical issues, developing trends, and evaluating the progress of disaster recovery operations and projects.Facilitating data coordination and collaboration for disaster recovery operations among the federal interagency and Tribal, state, and local governments, and community organizations.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentYou must be a U.S. citizen to be considered for this position.You must successfully pass a background investigation.Selective service registration is required for males born after 12/31/59.Please review "Other Information" section for additional conditions.To ensure the accomplishment of our mission, DHS requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy.
